A Dose Of Nature and Art (In A Panorama)

Took A Day Trip To The Bronx

The New York Botanical Garden is now showing Kusama: Cosmic Nature. A wonderful outdoor activity where you are able to social distance and mask while you’re there. It’s easy to notice the vibrations of New York City but I sometimes forget how much I need the vibrations of trees, flowers and plants!

This was a significant part of my re-socialization since it was one of only a handful of times I went to a public space where I knew many people would be gathering. It being outdoors helped a lot! Entrance to the indoor exhibits were ticketed and well controlled so that not many people were inside at once. The exhibits themselves were also small so you didn’t need spend a long amount of time inside.

I have been enamored with the work of Yayoi Kusama since the 90’s when I aspired to attend art school. I remember learning primarily about male, white artists but naturally I wanted to see myself in my goals, dreams and aspirations. In my search for Asian women artists, I came across Kusama and never looked back. It’s so important to have representation in all fields so that people who come from immigrant and marginalized backgrounds can see themselves. Please enjoy the photos from my visit!
