Pelvic Steaming, also known as Vaginal Steaming is a method of delivering the medicinal properties of herbs by way of steam to the vagina, perineum, lower digestive tract and womb areas.

This treatment is meant to balance the environment of the womb. When the womb is in balance, the menstrual cycle is in balance and you are less likely to experience painful periods, missing periods, irregular periods, fertility challenges and other unwanted symptoms. For those who are not experiencing a period, steaming can still help with hot flashes, dryness, frequent or unrelenting infections, pain, pain with intercourse, low libido, depression, anxiety and other concerns. Pelvic smoke may be used for those with heavy periods, spotting or shorter cycles.

Please note you do not have to have a menstrual cycle or a uterus to benefit from this treatment. Pelvic steams and smoke baths can also reach the lower digestive tract to address itching, bumps, hemorrhoids, fistulas and fissures.

This treatment is not appropriate when you are on your period, if your cycle is less than 28 days, after ovulation when trying to conceive or during pregnancy. *24 hour cancellation fees apply. Vaginal steaming can cause your nexplannon birth control to fail. Please be sure to disclose any medical conditions, allergies and current medications. The best time to plan your first time steam is just before your period or just after it has finished.

First-Time Pelvic/Vaginal Steam

During your first steam session we will discuss your menstrual cycle history and current condition. Your herbal steam formula and steam set-up will be customized according to your unique situation. In follow up sessions, after steaming, you will be asked to lay down to rest for the remainder of the session for ear acupuncture or a moxibustion treatment depending on your condition.

You will also receive a recommended treatment plan in order to address your imbalances. You can choose to come in-person to complete your treatment plan or I can guide you through doing it in the comfort of your home home. We will schedule periodic follow ups and check-ins. Steaming during your period and/or pregnancy is contraindicated. If you have a short cycle (less than 28 days), or experience spotting between periods, you will be recommended to do a pelvic smoke bath (sometimes called ‘dry steam’) in lieu of the steam until your cycle lengthens.

In this initial telehealth vaginal steaming consultation, we’ll discuss your general health and gynecological history. I will create a steam treatment plan unique to your conditions, guidance on how to steam at home and you will receive an herbal steam pack.

This includes initial consultation, customized herbal steam or smoke packs, and 1 follow-up visit that must be used within 2 months.

This is a virtual follow up visit in order to check in with you on your original treatment plan. We will discuss any changes and make an assessment on whether you will continue with your treatment plan or to formulate a new one. This includes 1-pack of customized steam herbs.
